Other methods, and why they fall short
Airplane mode. You open Instagram, let the story preload, turn on airplane mode, watch it, then force close the app and clear its cache. It works sometimes, but if the app reconnects before you clear it, your view is sent and the person sees your name.
A second account. Effective, but you still appear in the viewer list under a name that is often easy to trace back, and you have to keep the account alive.
Asking a friend. Reliable and completely anonymous to the poster, but it depends on someone else being available right now, and stories expire in 24 hours.
